I started Housewife because I wanted to critique the oppression of 1950’s American Housewives. I didn’t want to critique black Housewives because didn’t feel it is my place to make that critique as a white woman. That is why I make all my graphics in black, white, and yellow. The Hairy Legs graphic was the only one that I made with a skin tone and the addition of the color red. I decided to create diverse editions so anyone could identify with the graphic.

In 2011, I met Erin Wolfkiel at Camp Woodward ( a skateboard camp in Pennsylvania) and made this video below of her explaining the current state of female skateboarding at the time. This past week I skated with her in LA and we discussed how much has changed since we shot the video. Yes, there are more skateboarders competing and it is now normalized at skateparks, but we still constantly have to prove ourselves at the skateparks to be taken seriously.
